Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Correctional Facility Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a secure setting in Pasadena, CA. This critical role involves supporting the pharmaceutical needs of our patients within a correctional environment, ensuring accurate and timely medication dispensing, inventory management, and adherence to strict security protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies.
- Conduct regular audits of medication stock to ensure compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the preparation and packaging of medications for distribution to patient units.
- Maintain precise and detailed records of all dispensed medications, inventory movements, and patient profiles.
- Adhere strictly to all security protocols and procedures within the correctional facility.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of controlled substances and maintain associated documentation.
- Process prescription orders, verify patient information, and resolve any discrepancies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and regulations.
Required Skills
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical terminology, drug calculations, and dispensing procedures.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure and structured environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and general computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a correctional or institutional pharmacy setting.
- Experience with sterile compounding or IV admixture.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to correctional pharmacy operations.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
