Job Description
Join Seaspan Shipyards as a Drydock / Shipyard Laborer in Victoria, BC. This is a physically demanding role requiring individuals who are dedicated to hard work and committed to safety in an industrial marine environment. You will play a crucial role in various stages of ship repair and construction, contributing to vital projects for Canada’s marine industry. Excellent pay for those ready to tackle the challenges of a busy drydock.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (welders, pipefitters, electricians) with their tasks.
- Perform general cleanup, material handling, and site organization.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and temporary structures.
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment using various methods.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, welding, and other processes (e.g., grinding, sanding).
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in rigging and lifting operations under supervision.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Basic understanding of industrial safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a shipyard, construction, or heavy industrial setting.
