Job Description
Are you a recent graduate with a passion for textile science and innovation in the fashion industry? PVH Corp. is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Entry-Level Textile Chemist to join our dynamic team in Zephyrhills, Florida. As an Entry-Level Textile Chemist, you will play a crucial role in our materials science and quality assurance lab. You will be responsible for conducting chemical and physical tests on various textile materials, analyzing their properties, and contributing to the research and development of new fabrics and finishes for our fashion and apparel products. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundational knowledge of textile chemistry and a commitment to accuracy and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical and physical tests on a wide range of textile materials, including raw fibers, yarns, and finished fabrics.
- Analyze fabric composition, dye fastness, strength, abrasion resistance, and other performance properties.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain various laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and accurate results.
- Document test results meticulously, maintain accurate records, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Assist in the development and optimization of new textile treatments, finishes, and material specifications.
- Ensure all testing procedures and laboratory practices comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM, AATCC, ISO) and internal safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with design, product development, and production teams to provide technical insights and support material selection.
- Participate in root cause analysis for material-related issues and propose effective solutions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
- Strong foundational understanding of textile fibers (natural and synthetic), dyes, pigments, and finishing processes.
- Familiarity with common laboratory testing procedures, equipment operation, and data interpretation.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all experimental work and data recording.
- Ability to work both independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively as an integral part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship, co-op, or academic research experience in a textile, chemical, or materials testing laboratory.
- Basic knowledge of industry-specific testing standards such as ASTM, AATCC, and ISO.
- Exposure to analytical instrumentation such as spectroscopy (FTIR, UV-Vis) or chromatography techniques.
- Experience with statistical process control or data analysis software.
