Job Description
We are seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Education Intern with a strong focus on Pre-K learning to join our team in Davenport, Iowa. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant early learning environment, working directly with experienced educators and young children. The successful candidate will support classroom activities, assist in curriculum delivery, and contribute to creating a nurturing and stimulating space for our Pre-K students. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates passionate about early childhood development to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and grow their professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing daily Pre-K activities and lessons.
- Support children's learning and development through engaging play and educational experiences.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Observe and document children's progress and participate in team discussions.
- Facilitate individual and small group activities under the guidance of a mentor teacher.
- Assist with meal times, nap times, and other daily routines.
- Communicate effectively with staff, children, and parents (under supervision).
- Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings as required.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an Early Childhood Education program or related field.
- Demonstrated passion for working with young children, especially in the Pre-K age group.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing demeanor.
- Basic understanding of child development principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (volunteer or paid) in a childcare or educational setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of various early childhood curriculum frameworks (e.g., Reggio Emilia, Montessori).
- Proficiency in a second language.
