Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Emergency Response Driver to join our team, providing critical specialized support for FEMA operations. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, equipment, and supplies to and from disaster zones and operational bases. This position demands a strong commitment to safety, adherence to strict protocols, and the ability to operate various types of vehicles under potentially challenging conditions. Your work will directly contribute to recovery efforts and aid distribution, playing a crucial part in community resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various vehicles, including vans, trucks, and potentially specialized equipment, safely and efficiently.
- Transport personnel, emergency supplies, and equipment to designated locations, often in time-sensitive situations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all assigned vehicles; ensure vehicles are in excellent working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery logs.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and FEMA operational protocols.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, team members, and site coordinators.
- Be prepared to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and deploy to various locations with short notice.
- Ensure all vehicle documentation, including registration and insurance, is current and accessible.
Required Skills
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) of professional driving experience.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance basics and troubleshooting.
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with GPS devices.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
- Experience in emergency services, logistics, or disaster relief operations.
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) training (e.g., ICS 100, 200, 700, 800).
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle repairs.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
