Job Description
Are you passionate about beautiful events and eager to learn the art of floral and table design? Fuchsia Blooms Events & Design is seeking a dedicated Event Decorator Assistant to join our creative team in Rotherham. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with little to no experience to gain hands-on training and develop valuable skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with our lead designers, assisting with all aspects of event decor from concept to execution, contributing to memorable experiences for our clients. As an Event Decorator Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our lead decorators in bringing stunning event visions to life. This hands-on position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and ready to immerse themselves in the world of event aesthetics. You will learn foundational techniques in floral arrangement, table styling, and overall event design, contributing to a wide range of events from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead decorators in the creation and assembly of floral arrangements, bouquets, and centerpieces.
- Support the preparation of event decor elements, including linens, tableware, lighting, and other decorative items.
- Help with the loading, transportation, setup, and breakdown of event decor at various venues.
- Organise and maintain inventory of floral supplies, props, and decor items in our studio.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace and equipment.
- Learn and apply best practices in floral care and handling.
- Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot on-site challenges and ensure smooth execution.
- Contribute creative ideas and assist with design brainstorming sessions as needed.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for events, design, and aesthetics.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting and carrying event equipment (up to 25kg) and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or any creative environment is a plus, but not essential.
- A valid UK driving license and access to reliable transportation.
- Basic knowledge of different flower types and greenery.
- An existing portfolio of personal creative projects, even if informal, demonstrating an eye for design.
