Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Float Pool Nurse to join our dynamic team in Wichita, KS. This unique opportunity offers an increased base pay for nurses who thrive on variety and are adept at transitioning between different units based on staffing needs and patient acuity. As a Float Pool Nurse, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across various specialties including, but not limited to, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, ICU, and Emergency Department. This role is ideal for experienced nurses looking to broaden their clinical expertise, enhance their problem-solving skills, and enjoy a flexible work environment with premium compensation. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety across our hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, wound care, and other nursing interventions, across various hospital units.
- Adapt quickly to different unit environments, patient populations, and established protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, specialists, therapists, and other nursing staff.
- Monitor patient conditions, interpret vital signs, and report changes accurately and promptly to the medical team.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in unit-specific and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and sound clinical judgment in all aspects of patient care.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new environments and patient care settings quickly.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- PALS or other advanced certifications relevant to specialty areas (e.g., TNCC, CCRN).
- Experience in multiple acute care specialties (e.g., ICU, ED, Telemetry).
- Demonstrated leadership potential or charge nurse experience.
