Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Google Compliance Officer with a strong regulatory focus to join our global legal and compliance team. This fully remote role will be instrumental in ensuring Google’s adherence to a wide array of global regulatory requirements, with a particular emphasis on tech-specific legislation, data privacy, and competition law. You will monitor regulatory developments, assess their impact on Google’s products and services, and collaborate with various internal teams to implement robust compliance frameworks. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret new and evolving global regulatory requirements, particularly in technology, data privacy, and competition.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Design, implement, and maintain internal policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Advise product, engineering, and business teams on compliance implications for new and existing products and features.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders on regulatory compliance matters.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings and reports as required by various authorities.
- Manage and coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to provide guidance on legal and regulatory interpretations.
- Stay informed of industry best practices in compliance and risk management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a regulatory compliance role within the technology sector or a highly regulated industry.
- In-depth knowledge of global data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and other relevant tech regulations.
- Strong understanding of competition law principles and their application in digital markets.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents and translate them into actionable business requirements.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
- High degree of integrity and professional ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree, or relevant professional compliance certifications (e.g., CCEP, CIPP/E).
- Experience engaging with regulatory bodies and authorities.
- Project management experience in implementing compliance programs.
- Familiarity with Google's products and services, and the challenges inherent in operating at scale.
