Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and compassionate Government Office Aide to join our team in Overland Park. This role is central to assisting community members with inquiries and applications related to various state benefits programs. The ideal candidate will provide essential administrative support, guide applicants through necessary procedures, and maintain accurate records, ensuring efficient and empathetic service delivery. This position offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of Kansans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with understanding eligibility requirements and application processes for state benefits programs (e.g., SNAP, TANF, Medicaid).
- Provide clear, accurate information and guidance on forms, documentation, and deadlines.
- Manage incoming calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Process and organize client applications and supporting documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain confidential client records and database entries in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Schedule appointments for clients with caseworkers and other department personnel.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, copying, and data entry.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth office operations and efficient client service.
- Adhere to all department policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field
- Previous experience in a government office, social services agency, or similar administrative role
- Familiarity with state benefits programs in Kansas
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus
