Job Description
Join BrightFarms as a Hydroponic Picker and become an integral part of our modern indoor farming team in Chesapeake, Virginia. This is a unique opportunity to work in a clean, climate-controlled environment, contributing directly to the sustainable production of fresh greens. As a Hydroponic Picker, you will be responsible for carefully harvesting a variety of leafy greens, ensuring quality standards are met for our customers. No prior farming experience is required; we provide comprehensive training for all new team members. This role is perfect for individuals who are detail-oriented, enjoy a hands-on approach, and are passionate about contributing to a sustainable food system.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily harvesting of hydroponically grown leafy greens according to established protocols and quality standards.
- Inspect produce for quality and consistency, identifying and reporting any abnormalities or issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the indoor farm, adhering to all sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with packing and preparing harvested produce for shipment, ensuring proper handling and labeling.
- Monitor plant health and growth, reporting any concerns to the farm management team.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs related to hydroponic farming techniques.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily production targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision and attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict quality and sanitation standards.
- Capable of standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs regularly throughout a shift.
- Reliable transportation to and from the farm location.
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or agricultural setting.
- Familiarity with food safety principles (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
