Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ICP-MS Chemist with a strong focus on metals analysis to join our dedicated analytical team in Holiday, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) instrumentation for the trace elemental analysis of various sample matrices. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a solid understanding of analytical chemistry principles, and a commitment to quality and safety within a fast-paced laboratory environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our metals analysis data, supporting client projects across diverse industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine analysis of environmental, food, or material samples using ICP-MS instrumentation.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods for various metallic elements and sample types.
  • Conduct instrument calibration, quality control checks, and preventive maintenance on ICP-MS systems.
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Interpret complex analytical data, prepare reports, and ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and logbooks.
  • Participate in laboratory quality assurance programs, including internal and external audits.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to understand analytical needs and provide expert technical support.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in ICP-MS operation, data acquisition, and interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of inorganic chemistry and trace elemental analysis.
  • Experience with method development and validation for ICP-MS.
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality control procedures (e.g., LIMS, internal standards, matrix spikes).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for analytical instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-throughput laboratory setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience with other analytical techniques (e.g., ICP-OES, GFAA, XRF).
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., EPA methods) or food safety standards.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
  • Certifications in laboratory safety or specific analytical instrumentation.
