Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. In this vital role, you will support our pharmacists in delivering safe and effective medication therapy to patients within an inpatient hospital setting. Your responsibilities will include preparing medications, maintaining inventory, processing orders, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. This position is crucial to patient safety and operational efficiency within our hospital. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications and supplies, including ordering, receiving, and stocking.
  • Assist with medication order entry and processing in the hospital's electronic health record system.
  • Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, adhering to USP 797 and 795 guidelines.
  • Conduct daily quality assurance checks and maintain proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Monitor medication expiration dates and remove outdated or recalled drugs.
  • Operate and maintain automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and other pharmacy technology.
  • Provide excellent customer service to hospital staff and patients.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Florida
  • Current PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in an inpatient hospital setting
  • Proficiency in sterile compounding techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Basic computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Experience with Epic EMR system
  • Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations
  • Previous experience with automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell)
