Job Description
Join J.B. Hunt as an Intermodal Truck Driver in Pueblo, CO, focusing on local port work. This role offers the significant advantage of being home every night, providing excellent work-life balance. You will be responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of freight containers to and from rail ramps and customer locations within the Pueblo area. This is a crucial role within our intermodal division, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and supporting our extensive logistics network. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (Class A CDL) to transport intermodal freight.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor-trailer units and report any defects promptly.
- Hook and unhook trailers, ensuring proper securement of containers according to safety standards.
- Transport containers to and from rail yards, distribution centers, and customer facilities in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and company safety policies without exception.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all necessary paperwork efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Manage delivery schedules and routes efficiently to meet deadlines and optimize time.
- Represent J.B. Hunt professionally at all times while on the road and at customer sites.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Familiarity with Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) and federal regulations
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all company and regulatory policies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with truck driving and freight handling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with intermodal freight or drayage operations
- Hazmat endorsement on CDL
- Tanker endorsement on CDL
- Familiarity with the Pueblo, CO area and local rail ramps
