Job Description
Are you a recent graduate in Chemistry or a related scientific field eager to launch your career in a dynamic laboratory environment? Agilent Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Junior Analytical Chemist to join our team in Santa Ana, CA. This entry-level position offers comprehensive hands-on training on state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). You will gain invaluable experience working with a team of experienced chemists, contributing to critical projects, and developing a strong foundation in analytical chemistry techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including HPLC and GC-MS, after receiving comprehensive training.
- Perform routine sample preparation and analysis according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Accurately record and document experimental data, observations, and results.
- Assist senior chemists with method development, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
- Interpret basic analytical data and report findings.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Participate in laboratory maintenance, including calibration and qualification of equipment.
- Support inventory management of laboratory reagents and consumables.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Fundamental understanding of general chemistry principles and laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eagerness to learn new analytical techniques and instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior laboratory coursework experience beyond general chemistry (e.g., analytical chemistry, organic chemistry).
- Familiarity with data analysis software or laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
