Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Online UPS Specialist with a strong focus on Data Integrity to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of our Online Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. Your primary objective will be to ensure the absolute reliability and stability of power delivery to sensitive data infrastructure, thereby safeguarding data integrity against power fluctuations, outages, and quality issues. This position requires in-depth knowledge of UPS systems, power electronics, data monitoring tools, and a proactive approach to prevent data loss or corruption due to power-related incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission Online UPS systems, ensuring proper integration with existing electrical infrastructure and data center equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and functional tests on UPS units, batteries, and associated power distribution equipment.
  • Proactively monitor UPS system performance, battery health, and power quality parameters using specialized diagnostic tools and monitoring software.
  • Analyze power event logs and data trends to identify potential risks to data integrity and recommend corrective actions.
  • Respond to and diagnose UPS alarms and failures, performing immediate troubleshooting and repairs to minimize downtime and prevent data corruption.
  • Ensure all UPS systems operate within manufacturer specifications and industry best practices for power quality and data protection.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and system configurations.
  • Collaborate with IT and data center operations teams to ensure seamless power transitions and protect critical data assets.
  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures for power outages and UPS system failures.
  • Train junior technicians on UPS operation, maintenance, and data integrity best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with Online UPS systems (single-phase and three-phase) from major manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, battery technologies, and electrical safety standards.
  • Proficiency in using power quality analyzers, multi-meters, and other electrical testing equipment.
  • Experience with UPS monitoring software and data logging systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex power issues.
  • Strong commitment to data integrity and minimizing risk to critical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced data center environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ETA-I Power Quality Technician, NFPA 70E).
  • Experience with specific Vertiv (Liebert), Eaton, Schneider Electric (APC) UPS models.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA-942 for data center design.
  • Experience with generator systems and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
