Job Description
Swift Transportation is seeking experienced Over-the-Road (OTR) Reefer Drivers to join our dedicated team. This is an incredible opportunity for professional drivers looking for year-round stability, predictable routes, and industry-leading compensation. As an OTR Reefer Driver, you will be responsible for transporting temperature-sensitive freight across long distances, ensuring timely and safe delivery while maintaining product integrity. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial tractor-trailer combination (Class A CDL) with reefer trailer across state lines.
- Transport temperature-controlled freight (produce, frozen goods, pharmaceuticals, etc.) while adhering to strict temperature settings and monitoring.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle and trailer systems, accessories, and equipment.
- Ensure proper cargo securement and weight distribution.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, logs, and electronic logging device (ELD) entries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding delays, issues, and delivery schedules.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local driving regulations, including HOS rules.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the truck and equipment.
- Perform minor roadside repairs as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable OTR driving experience.
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable Reefer trailer experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Proficient with ELD systems and other trucking technology.
- Strong understanding of federal and state transportation regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- HAZMAT endorsement.
- TWIC card.
- Experience with various types of reefer units and temperature monitoring systems.
