Job Description

Are you a hands-on individual with a strong work ethic looking for an opportunity to contribute to high-quality painting projects? CertaPro Painters of Utah Valley is seeking a dedicated Paint Scraping & Prep Laborer to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in preparing surfaces for painting, ensuring a smooth, clean, and durable finish for both indoor and outdoor projects. If you’re reliable, detail-oriented, and enjoy manual work, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly scrape and remove loose, peeling, or cracked paint from various surfaces.
  • Sand surfaces to create a smooth and even texture, ready for primer and paint application.
  • Clean surfaces diligently, removing dust, dirt, and debris using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Apply caulk, spackle, or other patching materials to fill holes, cracks, and imperfections.
  • Protect adjacent areas (e.g., floors, furniture, landscaping) with drop cloths and tape.
  • Assist painters with setup, cleanup, and material handling as needed.
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently (e.g., scrapers, sanders).
  • Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the project.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, bending, standing, kneeling).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for imperfections.
  • Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures in a construction or painting environment.
  • Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in painting, construction, or general labor is a plus.
  • Familiarity with various paint scraping and surface preparation tools.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
