Job Description
Are you a high school student looking for a dynamic, part-time opportunity to gain valuable experience in the culinary and event industry? Catering by Design is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals for our Part-time High School Catering Prep team. This role is primarily weekend and event-based, perfect for students who want to earn money, learn new skills, and contribute to exciting events around Aurora and the wider Denver area. You will assist our professional catering staff with various preparation tasks, ensuring our events run smoothly and our clients receive top-tier service. No prior experience is necessary; we will provide all the training you need!
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing and cutting vegetables, assembling dishes, and portioning ingredients under supervision.
- Help with setting up event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and place settings according to event specifications.
- Support the kitchen team with plating food during service times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
- Assist with packing and unpacking catering supplies and equipment before and after events.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the catering team to ensure timely and efficient event execution.
- Follow instructions from lead chefs and event managers diligently.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or customer service role is a plus, but not required.
- Interest in culinary arts or event management.
- Availability to work flexible hours, primarily weekends and occasional evenings.
