Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Purchasing Agent to join our dedicated supply chain team in Simi Valley. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the efficient and cost-effective procurement of pharmaceutical supplies, medications, and related products for our healthcare facilities. Your expertise in inventory management, vendor relations, and regulatory compliance will be essential in ensuring that our pharmacies are consistently stocked with the necessary items to support patient care. This position requires a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain dynamics and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for pharmaceutical products, including order placement, tracking, and delivery confirmation.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to achieve favorable agreements and cost savings.
- Monitor inventory levels, identify trends, and implement strategies to optimize stock and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical purchasing and controlled substances.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, clinical staff, and other departments to forecast needs and align purchasing with patient demand.
- Resolve any issues related to product quality, shipping discrepancies, or vendor performance.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchases, contracts, and vendor communications.
- Participate in product evaluations and selection processes to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare reports on purchasing activities, inventory status, and cost analysis.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Purchasing Agent or similar supply chain role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, and industry regulations.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or other relevant certifications.
- Experience with sterile compounding supply procurement.
- Familiarity with Kaiser Permanente's internal systems and procedures.
