Swift Transportation is seeking highly motivated and safety-conscious Recent CDL School Graduates to join our professional driving team based out of Bakersfield, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor and trailer, documenting any defects.
- Transport goods over assigned routes, ensuring on-time delivery while adhering to company policies and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, including hours of service, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding load status, delays, and issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of self and others.
- Handle and secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Represent Swift Transportation professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Recent completion of an accredited CDL training program
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Clean driving record
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulations
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Experience with various types of freight handling (e.g., dry van, refrigerated)
- Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules and routes
