Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Counselor / Guidance Counselor to join our team and make a profound difference in the lives of students. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive counseling services to students, addressing their academic, social, emotional, and career development needs. This role involves working collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to create a positive and supportive school environment. A generous relocation package is available for qualified candidates joining us from outside the San Antonio area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students regarding academic planning, personal growth, and career exploration.
  • Develop and implement guidance lessons and programs addressing topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, stress management, and college readiness.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify and support students facing academic or personal challenges.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments to assist students with educational and career planning.
  • Serve as a resource for students, parents, and staff on issues related to mental health, crisis intervention, and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with district policies and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in student support teams, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant school meetings.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and provide immediate support to students in emergency situations.
  • Assist students in developing decision-making skills, problem-solving strategies, and self-advocacy.

Required Skills

  • Master's Degree in School Counseling or Guidance Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Texas School Counselor Certification (or eligibility for certification).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a school counselor or in a related educational support role.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and families.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
  • Experience with various counseling theories and intervention strategies.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support networks.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and student information systems.
