Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and passionate Sound Quality Tester to join our remote team. In this 100% remote role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the exceptional audio performance of our cutting-edge consumer electronics products. You will meticulously evaluate sound characteristics, identify anomalies, and provide critical feedback to engineering teams, directly contributing to the premium user experience Apple is known for. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive sound quality tests on a range of consumer electronic devices, including headphones, speakers, and mobile devices.
- Identify and document various audio artifacts, distortions, and inconsistencies using specialized tools and keen listening skills.
- Provide detailed, constructive feedback and reports to R&D and engineering teams regarding observed sound quality issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product specifications and testing requirements.
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for audio performance.
- Participate in the calibration and maintenance of audio testing equipment.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in audio technology and testing methodologies.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and quality assurance standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in sound quality testing or audio engineering, particularly with consumer electronics.
- Exceptional listening skills and a keen ear for detail, discerning subtle audio nuances.
- Proficiency with audio analysis software and hardware (e.g., Audio Precision, DAWs, spectrum analyzers).
- Strong understanding of acoustic principles, psychoacoustics, and digital audio concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and feedback.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a 100% remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Music Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation.
- Familiarity with various audio codecs and streaming technologies.
- Prior experience working on products with high-fidelity audio requirements.
