Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organized State Government Warehouse Clerk to join our team in Portland. This vital role supports the logistical operations behind public sector benefits, ensuring the proper receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, supplies, and equipment crucial for various state programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, fulfilling orders, and contributing to the smooth functioning of our warehouse facility. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Accurately sort, label, and store inventory in designated warehouse locations.
- Process and fulfill supply requisitions from various state agencies and departments.
- Prepare items for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and loading onto delivery vehicles.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using a computerized inventory management system.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with discrepancy resolution.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the warehouse.
- Adhere to all state and federal safety regulations and department policies.
- Assist with the disposal of surplus or damaged goods in accordance with state guidelines.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory management role.
- Proficiency in operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Basic computer skills for inventory management software and data entry.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with state procurement and inventory procedures.
- Certification in forklift operation.
