Job Description
Are you a responsible and enthusiastic teenager with a passion for pets, especially dogs? PetSmart is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as a Teen Pet Care Specialist with a focus on our Dog Daycare services. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in animal care, learn about dog behavior, and contribute to a safe and fun environment for our furry clients. You will play a vital role in supervising playgroups, ensuring the well-being of all dogs, and maintaining the cleanliness of our daycare facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise dog playgroups to ensure safe and positive interactions among all dogs.
- Monitor dog behavior, identify potential issues, and intervene appropriately.
- Engage with dogs through play, petting, and positive reinforcement.
- Feed and provide fresh water to dogs according to individual schedules and needs.
- Clean and sanitize dog daycare areas, including playrooms, kennels, and outdoor spaces.
- Administer basic first aid under supervision when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with senior staff regarding dog behavior or health concerns.
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures for daycare clients.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all PetSmart safety and operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and passion for dogs and animals.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with pet care (e.g., owning pets, dog walking, volunteering at a shelter).
- Basic knowledge of dog breeds and common dog behaviors.
- First Aid/CPR certification for pets (or willingness to obtain).
