Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and accurate Transcription Clerk with a strong focus on medical terminology to join our remote team. This role is crucial in ensuring the precise conversion of spoken medical reports into written documents, supporting the vital work of our healthcare professionals. You will be responsible for transcribing various medical recordings, including physician notes, consultation reports, and clinical summaries, adhering strictly to established guidelines for quality and confidentiality. This is a per-word paid position, offering flexibility for individuals with excellent typing skills and a solid understanding of medical terminology and privacy protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe medical dictations accurately and efficiently into written reports.
- Verify patient information and report details for completeness and correctness.
- Proofread and edit transcribed documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information and sensitive data in compliance with HIPAA and provincial regulations.
- Manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and turnaround time requirements.
- Utilize transcription software and digital dictation equipment effectively.
- Research and clarify medical terminology, drug names, and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals or team leads for clarification on dictations.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60 WPM).
- Strong listening and comprehension skills.
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Proficiency with word processing software and digital transcription platforms.
- High level of integrity and commitment to patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
- Certification from a recognized Medical Transcription program.
- Familiarity with various medical specialties and documentation styles.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
