Job Description
Join UPS as a Feeder Driver and become a critical part of our extensive logistics network. This role involves transporting trailers between various UPS facilities, primarily focused on ‘No-Touch Freight,’ meaning you will not be responsible for loading or unloading the cargo. We are seeking experienced CDL-A drivers who are committed to safety, punctuality, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations on designated routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Transport freight efficiently between UPS hubs and satellite facilities.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate logs of vehicle operation and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations teams.
- Ensure timely delivery of trailers to meet scheduled commitments.
- Secure cargo appropriately to prevent damage during transit.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all traffic laws.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role, including climbing in and out of the truck, coupling/uncoupling trailers.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with No-Touch Freight operations.
- Endorsements for Doubles/Triples and Hazardous Materials (though not always required for initial placement, can be beneficial).
- Familiarity with GPS and route optimization software.
