Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Vocal Coach to join our team at Katy Piano & Music Academy. This role requires a dedicated professional capable of instructing students in various vocal styles and techniques, from foundational breathing and pitch control to advanced performance skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong musical background, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to inspire and develop vocal talent. This position offers competitive hourly compensation along with an attractive hourly bonus structure based on student retention and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group vocal instruction to students of diverse age ranges and skill levels.
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's goals and progress.
- Teach foundational vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch accuracy, rhythm, and projection.
- Guide students in repertoire selection across various genres (e.g., pop, classical, jazz, musical theater).
- Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and performances.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and academy staff regarding student progress and scheduling.
- Participate in academy events, workshops, and faculty meetings as required.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in vocal technique and pedagogy.
- Strong understanding of music theory and ear training.
- Ability to teach multiple vocal genres.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and ability to motivate students of all ages.
- Professional performance experience.
- Proficiency in accompanying students (e.g., piano, guitar) or utilizing backing tracks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching in a professional music academy or school setting.
- Experience with music technology and recording software.
- Certification from a recognized vocal teaching methodology.
