Job Description
Join Republic Services as a dedicated Waste Management Driver, primarily serving our valued public sector clients under a specific, long-term contract. This vital role involves safely and efficiently operating various collection vehicles to pick up and transport waste and recyclable materials. You will be an integral part of our team, directly contributing to community cleanliness and environmental health across Tulsa. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., front-load, side-load, or roll-off) to collect and transport waste and recyclable materials on assigned routes.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met and reporting any defects.
- Safely navigate assigned residential, commercial, or public sector routes, adhering strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, dispatch personnel, and fellow team members.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization, and report any maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate department.
- Adhere strictly to public sector contract specifications, service schedules, and waste disposal procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation of routes, loads, and any incidents or challenges encountered during service.
- Operate compaction equipment and hydraulic controls safely and effectively.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an excellent driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in waste collection or a similar heavy vehicle operation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and maneuvering heavy containers and equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures, with a proactive approach to hazard identification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete routes efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifically with waste collection vehicles (e.g., front-load, side-load, rear-load, roll-off).
- Familiarity with local Tulsa metropolitan area routes and public sector service requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle troubleshooting and preventive maintenance checks.
