Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting entry into the renewable energy sector? Siemens Gamesa is seeking enthusiastic and determined individuals to join us as a Trainee Wind Turbine Blade Inspector. This role is perfect for someone who is not afraid of heights, possesses a strong willingness to learn, and is eager to travel across various sites to ensure the integrity and efficiency of our wind turbine blades. No prior experience in wind energy is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our assets, contributing directly to the generation of clean, sustainable energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete all required training modules for wind turbine blade inspection and safety protocols.
- Assist senior inspectors in conducting visual and tactile inspections of wind turbine blades from various heights, using specialized access techniques (e.g., rope access, platforms).
- Learn to identify and document defects, damage, or wear on blades, including cracks, delamination, and erosion.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintaining accurate records of findings and recommended actions.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines and regulations at all times.
- Operate and maintain inspection equipment and tools.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and site personnel.
- Travel extensively to various wind farm locations, both onshore and potentially offshore, as required.
Required Skills
- Comfortable working at heights for extended periods.
- Ability to travel frequently and for extended durations.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to pass relevant medical examinations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- A proactive and positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn new skills.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Basic computer literacy for report generation and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a role requiring significant travel or outdoor work.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools or mechanical aptitude.
- Any GWO (Global Wind Organisation) Basic Safety Training certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, First Aid) are a plus, but not essential as training will be provided.
- Experience in data collection or report writing.
