Job Description

Are you a student looking for a flexible, active, and rewarding part-time job on weekends? Wag! is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Weekend Student Dog Walkers in Durham, NC! This is a fantastic opportunity to earn income while enjoying the outdoors and spending time with a variety of wonderful dogs. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about animals, physically active, and committed to providing excellent care and safety for our furry clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and responsibly walk dogs for scheduled durations, ensuring their well-being and enjoyment.
  • Adhere to specific client instructions regarding walking routes, feeding, and any special needs.
  • Monitor dogs for any signs of distress, injury, or behavioral issues during walks and report promptly.
  • Provide fresh water and basic care as needed during visits.
  • Clean up after dogs during walks, disposing of waste properly.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with pet parents, providing updates and feedback.
  • Maintain a high level of punctuality and reliability for all scheduled walks.
  • Ensure the safety of the dogs and yourself during all assignments, following Wag! safety guidelines.
  • Utilize the Wag! app for scheduling, check-ins, check-outs, and communication.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love for dogs and an understanding of animal behavior.
  • Reliable and punctual, with excellent time management skills.
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking in various weather conditions.
  • Access to a smartphone and ability to use mobile applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the US.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (or currently pursuing).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience walking or caring for dogs, either professionally or personally.
  • Knowledge of basic dog training commands and leash etiquette.
  • Familiarity with the Durham, NC area and local parks/walking paths.
  • Enrollment in a college or university program.
