Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Theatre Porter to join our surgical suite support team. This critical role involves ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients, equipment, and specimens within our busy operating theatre environment. You will be responsible for transporting patients to and from theatre, moving essential medical equipment, and supporting the surgical team as required. Full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and comprehensive training will be given to ensure your safety and competence in this dynamic and fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and courteously between wards, recovery areas, and the operating theatre.
- Assist with the movement and positioning of specialist surgical equipment and instruments within the theatre suite.
- Collect and deliver laboratory specimens, blood products, and medical supplies promptly and securely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of theatre corridors, waiting areas, and equipment storage bays.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately for patient and equipment transfers.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies, health and safety regulations, and Trust procedures.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
- Support the theatre team with ad-hoc duties as required to maintain operational efficiency.
