Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Weather Data Annotator to join our scientific research support team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for meticulously reviewing, categorizing, and annotating vast datasets of weather phenomena, satellite imagery, radar data, and meteorological observations. Your work will directly contribute to the improvement of our predictive models, the development of new weather-related AI applications, and various scientific research initiatives aimed at enhancing our understanding of global weather patterns and climate change. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a genuine interest in atmospheric science, even without prior professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately annotate and label weather data (e.g., cloud types, precipitation, storm features, temperature anomalies) according to established guidelines and taxonomies.
  • Perform quality control checks on annotated data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness, identifying and correcting discrepancies.
  • Collaborate closely with meteorologists, data scientists, and researchers to understand project requirements and refine annotation processes.
  • Utilize specialized data annotation software and tools efficiently.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of annotation guidelines and best practices.
  • Provide constructive feedback on data quality and tool functionality to improve workflows.
  • Manage and prioritize annotation tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive weather data.
  • Document observations and challenges encountered during the annotation process.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers and navigating digital tools and software.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and scientific concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Geography, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with basic meteorological concepts and weather phenomena.
  • Previous experience with data annotation, data entry, or quality control.
  • Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or similar data visualization tools.
