Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Chemist to join our night shift team in Virginia Beach. This role offers a night shift differential and top hourly pay for dedicated professionals committed to maintaining the highest quality standards. As a QC Chemist, you will be instrumental in performing analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements. You will operate and maintain various laboratory instruments, interpret data, and meticulously document all findings. This position requires a strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. Your contributions will directly impact product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established test methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, titrations).
- Accurately record, analyze, and interpret test results, ensuring compliance with product specifications and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) results, participate in root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare reagents, standards, and samples according to SOPs.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory documentation, including lab notebooks, logbooks, and test records.
- Contribute to the development and validation of new analytical methods as needed.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality system requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with production, R&D, and other quality assurance teams.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory, preferably in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical setting.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, KF titrators).
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory safety protocols.
- Excellent data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines (e.g., cGMP, ISO).
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Ability to work independently on the night shift and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience with method development and validation.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and quality improvement methodologies.
- Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
- Knowledge of specific industry regulations relevant to chemical manufacturing.
