Job Description

FMC Corporation is seeking an experienced and dedicated EPA Compliance Specialist with a strong chemistry background to join our regulatory affairs team. This role is crucial in ensuring our products, processes, and facilities adhere strictly to all U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical properties, environmental laws, and regulatory frameworks, with a focus on maintaining stability and excellence in our compliance programs. You will be responsible for interpreting complex regulations, developing compliance strategies, preparing and submitting necessary documentation, and ensuring our operations meet or exceed environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement EPA regulations (e.g., TSCA, FIFRA, RCRA, CAA, CWA) as they apply to FMC products and operations.
  • Develop, update, and manage company policies and procedures to ensure continuous EPA compliance.
  • Prepare and submit various EPA reports, permits, and applications accurately and on time.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to identify potential non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and legal teams to integrate compliance requirements into all stages of product lifecycle.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to employees on EPA regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor changes in environmental regulations and assess their impact on company operations, recommending proactive adjustments.
  • Serve as a primary contact for EPA inquiries, inspections, and enforcement actions, ensuring professional and timely responses.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive compliance records and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in EPA regulatory compliance within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or agricultural industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of major EPA statutes and regulations (e.g., TSCA, FIFRA, RCRA, CAA, CWA).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex scientific data and legal texts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presentations, and interacting with regulatory agencies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Environmental Professional (EP)).
  • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
