Job Description
King & Spalding LLP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant Intern for our Corporate Law practice group in our Buckhead, Atlanta office. This internship is designed for current law students or advanced undergraduate students pursuing a career in law, and is primarily offered for academic credit. The intern will gain invaluable hands-on experience in various aspects of corporate law, supporting our attorneys and paralegals on active cases and transactions. This role offers a unique opportunity to observe and contribute to the real-world application of corporate legal principles within a dynamic and prestigious law firm environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys and paralegals with legal research, memo drafting, and document review related to corporate transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and general corporate governance.
- Organize and maintain legal documents and client files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Prepare and format legal documents, presentations, and correspondence.
- Support due diligence processes by compiling and reviewing relevant corporate records.
- Assist with the preparation for client meetings, closings, and presentations.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the corporate legal team.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school or a highly relevant undergraduate program (e.g., pre-law, business administration with a legal focus).
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an office environment or legal setting.
- Familiarity with legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Basic understanding of corporate law concepts and terminology.
