Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Secondary Science Teacher specializing in Physics and Chemistry to join our esteemed faculty. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to contribute to our dynamic science department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons to students across various secondary grades, fostering a love for scientific inquiry, and preparing them for future academic success. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver comprehensive and engaging Physics and Chemistry lessons to secondary school students.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the science curriculum and integrate innovative teaching methodologies.
- Participate in school-wide professional development activities and staff meetings.
- Supervise and mentor students, offering academic and personal support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of subject matter and educational best practices.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities or school events as required.
Required Skills
- Valid teaching certification/license in Physics and Chemistry (or equivalent eligibility for BC certification).
- Proven ability to teach Physics and Chemistry at the secondary level.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong classroom management abilities.
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Proficiency in educational technology and online learning platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a related science field.
- Experience with inquiry-based learning and project-based approaches.
- Familiarity with the British Columbia curriculum.
- Previous experience teaching in a multicultural or international setting.
- Experience with student mentorship or coaching extracurricular activities.
