Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Control Chemist II to join our dynamic team in Chula Vista, California. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex chemical and physical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products using various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, pH, Karl Fischer, Titration).
- Analyze and interpret test results, compare them against specifications, and report findings accurately and promptly.
- Conduct thorough investigations into Out-of-Specification (OOS) and Out-of-Trend (OOT) results, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are in good working order and calibrated according to schedule.
- Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods as required, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and review technical documents, including test methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and validation protocols.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with cGMP, ICH guidelines, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams to support product development and timely release.
- Train and mentor junior chemists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device).
- Proficiency with various analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and wet chemistry methods.
- Strong understanding of cGMP regulations, ICH guidelines, and other relevant quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot analytical equipment and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent data analysis, interpretation, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience with method development and validation.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and LIMS systems.
- Experience with Empower 3 chromatography data system.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
