Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Recruiter with a strong Human Resources focus to join our dynamic team. This integral role is responsible for identifying, attracting, and onboarding top nursing talent to Mercy Medical Center. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to build strong relationships with candidates and hiring managers. This is an office-based position, requiring a dedicated presence at our Cedar Rapids facility to collaborate effectively with HR and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full recruitment life cycle for nursing positions, from sourcing to offer extension and onboarding.
- Develop and implement innovative sourcing strategies to attract qualified nursing candidates, including online platforms, professional networks, and career events.
- Conduct thorough interviews, assess candidate qualifications, and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Collaborate closely with nursing leadership and HR business partners to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Provide regular updates on recruitment activity and market trends to hiring managers and HR leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and hospital policies.
- Participate in local and regional nursing career fairs and recruitment events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local nursing schools and professional organizations.
- Contribute to employer branding initiatives to position Mercy Medical Center as an employer of choice for nursing professionals.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nurse recruitment within a hospital or healthcare system.
- Demonstrated experience with full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and offer management.
- Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and CRM software.
- Strong understanding of healthcare staffing needs and the nursing profession.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting in a large, complex healthcare organization.
- Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) or Recruitment (e.g., CIR, CDR).
- Familiarity with local nursing schools and professional networks in the Cedar Rapids area.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
