Job Description
Join the dedicated team at Hyatt Regency San Jose as a Glassware Washing Assistant for our bustling banquet operations. In this essential role, you will ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation for all glassware and dishware used in our events. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will be a vital part of delivering memorable experiences to our guests by ensuring every piece of glassware shines with perfection.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial dishwashers and glassware polishing machines safely and efficiently.
- Sort, wash, rinse, and sanitize all glassware, plates, and utensils used in banquet events.
- Inspect cleaned items for spotless presentation and store them properly according to established guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area, including sinks, work surfaces, and storage racks, adhering to all hygiene standards.
- Assist with transporting supplies and equipment to and from banquet areas as needed to support event setup and breakdown.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and banquet staff to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of clean items.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to a supervisor promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (occasionally 50 lbs) safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining impeccable cleanliness.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or banquet setting.
- Knowledge of commercial dishwashing equipment operation.
- Familiarity with HACCP principles or other food safety guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
