Job Description
Join the Walmart team as an Inventory Control Clerk with a specialized focus on Cycle Counting. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of our inventory records, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring efficient stock movement within our distribution center or retail store environment. Your primary duties will involve conducting regular cycle counts, investigating variances, and collaborating with various departments to resolve inventory issues. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cycle counts of inventory in designated areas, both manually and using scanning equipment.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies by researching transaction histories, shipping/receiving records, and other relevant data.
- Reconcile inventory variances and make necessary adjustments in the inventory management system.
- Collaborate with warehouse, receiving, and merchandising teams to identify root causes of inventory inaccuracies and implement corrective actions.
- Generate and analyze inventory reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Participate in periodic full physical inventory counts as needed.
- Train and support other team members on inventory control best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to inventory management.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a similar role
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and data entry
- Familiarity with inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, ERP)
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack) if required, with proper training
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Experience with SAP or other major ERP systems
- Proven track record of improving inventory accuracy
- Certification in inventory management (e.g., CPIM, CSCP)
