Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Trial Pharmacy Assistant with a strong focus on research and laboratory support to join our dynamic clinical trials team. In this pivotal role, you will assist pharmacists and research staff in managing investigational medicinal products (IMPs) for various clinical studies, ensuring strict adherence to protocols, regulatory guidelines, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Your work will directly contribute to the integrity and success of our groundbreaking clinical research. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance within a fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the inventory management of investigational drugs, including receipt, storage, dispensing, and accountability records, ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and label investigational medicinal products (IMPs) under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all drug accountability activities, temperature logs, and dispensing records.
- Collaborate with research coordinators, nurses, and pharmacists to ensure timely and accurate provision of study medications to participants.
- Conduct regular quality control checks on pharmacy equipment and supplies used in clinical trials.
- Assist with the preparation and packaging of study samples for laboratory analysis, adhering to strict shipping and handling guidelines.
- Participate in monitoring and auditing visits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Ensure the secure and compliant disposal of expired or unused investigational products.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for pharmacy-related research activities.
- Provide general administrative support to the clinical trial pharmacy team as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical terminology.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA).
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a clinical trial setting or research pharmacy.
- Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical trial management systems (CTMS).
- Familiarity with sterile compounding techniques.
