Job Description
As a Telecommunications Splicer/Lineman, you will be a critical part of our field operations team, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and copper cable networks. This role involves working at heights, in various weather conditions, and requires adherence to strict safety protocols. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are eager to contribute to building and maintaining Canada’s leading telecommunications infrastructure. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates who meet our experience and skill requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform aerial and underground splicing of fiber optic and copper cables.
- Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications lines and related equipment.
- Utilize various tools and test equipment to identify and resolve network issues.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams.
- Work safely at heights from poles, ladders, and bucket trucks.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Respond to service calls and emergency repairs as needed.
- Complete accurate documentation of work performed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in telecommunications splicing (fiber optic and copper).
- Strong understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb poles, and work in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FOA CFOT, BICSI).
- Experience with specific splicing equipment and testing tools.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local safety regulations and standards in Canada.
- Experience with CAD or GIS software.
