Job Description
Are you a budding graphic designer eager to build a standout portfolio and gain real-world experience? Canva is looking for a talented and motivated Online Graphic Design Intern to join our remote team. This internship is specifically designed for individuals passionate about design, looking to refine their skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that will significantly enhance their professional portfolio. You’ll work alongside experienced designers, receiving mentorship and feedback to grow your design capabilities while supporting our creative initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation of various digital assets including social media graphics, website banners, email templates, and presentation slides.
- Collaborate with the design team to develop engaging visual content that aligns with brand guidelines and project objectives.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for new design projects.
- Conduct research on current design trends and best practices to inform creative direction.
- Prepare design files for production, ensuring accuracy and adherence to technical specifications.
- Receive and incorporate feedback from senior designers and stakeholders to iterate on designs.
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries and project documentation.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; Figma; or Canva's own platform).
- Basic understanding of design principles (typography, color theory, layout, composition).
- Strong visual aesthetic and attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A developing portfolio showcasing creative projects (school projects, personal work are welcome).
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a graphic design, visual arts, or related program.
- Experience with motion graphics or video editing software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Familiarity with UX/UI design principles.
- A passion for digital trends and emerging design technologies.
