Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Remote Proofreader & Editor to join our dynamic content team. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality and accuracy of our educational and professional materials. You will review a wide range of content, from textbooks and digital learning modules to marketing communications and internal documents, identifying and correcting errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style. Key Responsibilities

  • Proofread and edit a variety of content for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation inaccuracies, and adherence to style guides (e.g., Chicago, APA, internal style guides).
  • Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and terminology across all materials.
  • Verify factual accuracy where applicable and flag any potential discrepancies for content creators.
  • Review layouts for proper formatting, paragraph breaks, and visual presentation.
  • Collaborate with content developers, authors, and designers to clarify feedback and implement corrections effectively.
  • Manage multiple proofreading projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Utilize digital proofreading tools and platforms to streamline workflows.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Proven ability to spot and correct errors with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with standard style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, APA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Docs, including track changes and comment features.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a proofreading or editing role, preferably within an educational publishing or content creation environment.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello).
  • Familiarity with different content management systems (CMS).
