Job Description
Join FedEx Express as an Air Freight Handler at our fast-paced airport facility in Lubbock, TX. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient loading, unloading, sorting, and movement of freight and packages within our air cargo hub. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight and packages from aircraft, trucks, and sorting equipment.
- Operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and tuggers, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Sort and scan packages according to destination and priority, ensuring accurate tracking and timely delivery.
- Perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling heavy packages (up to 70 lbs unaided, more with assistance).
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and aviation security regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and meet daily operational targets.
- Inspect freight for damage and report any discrepancies or issues immediately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy packages (up to 70 lbs unaided)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency for scanning and tracking purposes
- Valid driver’s license (for operating some equipment)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or airport operations setting
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment
- Familiarity with air cargo processes and procedures
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
