Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our esteemed mental health facility in Seattle. This vital role involves providing direct patient care, assessing mental health needs, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of psychiatric disorders, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a safe and therapeutic environment for our patients. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams and risk assessments.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists.
  • Provide therapeutic communication and psychoeducation to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and coping strategies.
  • Manage crisis situations, de-escalate aggressive behaviors, and ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Document patient observations, interventions, and responses accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to the overall treatment strategy.
  • Educate patients on medication management, discharge planning, and community resources.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment for all patients.

Required Skills

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification
  • Demonstrated experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health care
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in administering psychiatric medications and monitoring effects
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMH-RN)
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in psychiatric care
  • Previous experience in an inpatient mental health setting
