Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Fry Cook Assistant to join our fast-paced kitchen team in Evanston, Illinois. This is an immediate hire position with the benefit of weekly pay. As a Fry Cook Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the consistent preparation of our popular fried menu items, maintaining high standards of food quality and safety, and contributing to a positive kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain fryers, ensuring all equipment is clean and functioning properly.
- Prepare fried food items such as French fries, chicken nuggets, and other specialties according to McDonald's recipes and standards.
- Monitor oil temperatures and quality, changing oil as needed.
- Ensure all food items are cooked to the correct temperature and presented appealingly.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Stock and replenish ingredients and supplies in the fry station.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Assist with other kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Cook or Shift Manager.
Required Skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles (or willingness to learn immediately).
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current food handler's permit (or ability to obtain one upon hire).
