Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior DevOps Engineer with a passion for Google Cloud Platform to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge cloud technologies, automation, and CI/CD pipelines. You will work within a supportive environment, contributing to innovative projects for a diverse range of clients, all from the comfort of your home office. While this position is remote, you will be an integral part of our UK-based team, collaborating closely with experienced engineers and architects to build scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructures on GCP.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the deployment, management, and operation of scalable and secure applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery processes.
- Support the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform for GCP resources.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability and availability of cloud services.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize workflows and improve system efficiency.
- Participate in incident response and post-mortem analysis to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Learn and apply best practices for cloud security, compliance, and cost optimization on GCP.
- Document configurations, processes, and procedures for cloud infrastructure and deployments.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) concepts and services.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line interfaces.
- Basic scripting skills in languages such as Python or Bash.
- Understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts and tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen willingness to learn new technologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Possession of Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Associate Cloud Engineer).
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible).
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Prior internship or project experience in a DevOps or cloud engineering role.
