Job Description

UPS is seeking an Operations Management Intern to join our team in Point Richmond, CA. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis of operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
- Support supervisors in managing daily sorting, loading, and delivery operations.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, including mapping current workflows and proposing optimized solutions.
- Help monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for management review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and efficient operational flow.
- Conduct time studies and operational audits to assess productivity and compliance.
- Contribute to safety programs and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn and contribute.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a logistics, manufacturing, or operational setting (even part-time or volunteer).
- Familiarity with lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) or operational software.
- Availability to work a minimum of 20-30 hours per week during the academic year, or full-time during summer.
