Job Description
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable 14-year-old teens to join our Greenhouse team as a Helper. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to learn about plant care, gain hands-on experience in a retail garden environment, and contribute to keeping our plants healthy and beautiful. You will work alongside our experienced team, assisting with essential daily tasks that ensure our greenhouse thrives.
Key Responsibilities
- Watering plants according to established schedules and specific plant needs.
- Assisting with basic plant care tasks such as pruning dead leaves, repotting, and cleaning foliage.
- Organizing and tidying the greenhouse area, ensuring a clean and safe workspace.
- Helping to unload and display new plant shipments under supervision.
- Alerting senior staff to any signs of plant distress, pests, or disease.
- Following all safety guidelines and procedures within the greenhouse.
- Maintaining a positive and helpful attitude while working with the team.
Required Skills
- Must be 14 years of age or older.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and carefully.
- Eagerness to learn about plants and greenhouse operations.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift light objects (up to 10-15 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks such as watering.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A genuine interest in plants, gardening, or the natural world.
- Previous experience helping with gardening tasks at home or in school projects.
- Basic understanding of plant needs (e.g., sunlight, water).
